Marie Boyd celebrates 90th birthday

Marie Boyd, the widow of Huck Boyd, celebrated her 90th birthday on Oct. 26, 1998. Her family, including her daughter Pat and grandchildren from California, her grandson and wife from Manhattan, Kan. and her granddaughter and husband from London, England, had a family celebration with her on Oct. 24. Gloria Freeland, director of the Huck Boyd Center, and Ron Wilson, director of its sister organization, the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development, traveled from Kansas State University to Phillipsburg on Oct. 30 to be with Marie for yet another celebration. Freeland and Wilson presented Marie with an album, which included letters from senators and representatives from the Kansas congressional delegation, the Kansas governor, K-State's president, editors and many others from throughout the state and nation who know Marie and who knew Huck Boyd.
